Designer Information
Arne Jacobsen designed the Swan Chair in 1958 for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Arne Jacobsen distinguished the Swan Chair by his omission of any straight lines in its design-only curves. The Swan Chair provides further evidence of the movement in modern retro design to adapt more art deco organic forms into our living spaces and commercial environments. One of the most stylish chairs on today's market.
The swan chair and egg chair design classics that are as popular now as they were in the 1960s. The Swan chair is a rigid foam shell upholstered in sumptuous soft fabric on a four star chrome swivel base.
Fun and eccentric - definitely cool.
Colour choice - Red or Black. 100% Natural wool.
A rigid foam shell, upholstered in either a soft cashmere fabric, sumptuous wool or soft leather. Comes with a tilt function and a swivel base to achieve the most relaxed position. If you cannot see the fabric of your choice please call for details of further colours available.
Product details here.
Arne Jacobsen was one of Denmark's most influential 20th century architects and designers. Both his buildings and products combine modernist ideals with a Nordic love of naturalism.
After graduating from university, Arne Jacobsen worked in the architect's office of Paul Holsoe. In 1931 he founded his own design studio, which he directed until his death in 1971. From 1956 onwards he also held a professorship in architecture at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. Arne Jacobsen, who worked in architecture, interior decoration, furniture, textile and porcelain design, stood out in all areas with his clear styling and the successful combination of form and function. Some of his creations became classics even during his lifetime and can be seen in the film '2001 A Space Odyssey
