Eileen Gray (1878-1976) is now regarded as one of the most important retro furniture designers and architects of the early 20th century and the most influential woman in those fields. Her work inspired both Modernism and Art Deco.
The Adjustable Table was designed in 1926 by Eileen Gray for her first self designed house. This clinically chic table is a well known & loved classic modern contemporary icon. The Eileen Gray Coffee Table was said to have been designed for her sister who liked to eat breakfast in bed. The base slides under the bed and the adjustable height of the top provides a perfect fit over the top of the bed.

Designer - Eileen Gray
Eileen Gray was born to an aristocratic family in Enniscorthy, a small market town in south eastern Ireland, and spent her childhood years there. As a young adult, in order to develop her artistic sensibilities, she entered the Slade School for Fine Arts in London and from there moved to Paris where she would spend most of her working life.
Eileen's lacquer work succeeded in bringing her into the world of furniture and interior design. Her creative genius combined with an innovative sense of form as well as sensitivity to colour, were utilized in new and innovative ways, usally to stunning effect. In 1921, Eileen opened a store as a direct outlet to the public for her designs. The store met with relative success in spite of the owner's lack of commercial and marketing skills. She continued to hone her designs, building upon a growing reputation for design excellence.
